The goal of the EAGLEs project is to create an innovative training package for Youth Workers which will include a PowerPoint training presentation and a “Youth Coaches” manual. These are accompanied by hands-on activities, tools and practical exercises based on positive psychology principles that have already been applied successfully to support individuals during transitions in their lives.
EAGLES aims to develop a unique practical tool that will include exercises and activities such as role plays, simulation exercises and experiential learning that will assist youth workers to experience positivity combined with employability skills firsthand, and enable them to transfer this knowledge directly to young job seekers. Also, Positive Psychology provides coaching with an evidence based framework, a range of valid measures, evidence-based interventions and a reference point from which to develop meaningful training (Seligman, 2007). The identification, self- recognition and awareness of personal virtues and strengths are as much a feature of recruitment as are qualifications and experience. This is a completely new training aspect that enhances and fosters the youth workers’role. Also, the educational tool will include practical exercises and activities that job seekers will be able to apply at any stage in their life along with the support of a coach/ mentor.
